ELLENDE, KARG, FIRTAN - Praha
17 / 01 / 2026 / PRAHA / MODRÁ VOPICE
The Austrian project Ellende will bring its dark and melancholic vision of modern post-black metal to Prague’s Modrá Vopice club – prepare for a fusion of black metal aggression with fragile, almost neoclassical moments. Support will come from their fellow Austrians Karg and German force Firtan.
Founded in 2011, Ellende has been captivating listeners with its bleak yet deeply moving take on post-black metal. The mastermind behind the project is multi-instrumentalist L.G., whose artistic vision is to blend the raw force of black metal with delicate, almost neoclassical elements. The result is music that feels like an emotional journey through landscapes of sorrow and beauty, where silence and calmness shift into bursts of furious intensity. Over the years, Ellende have built a strong reputation not only in the underground but also on the international stage, thanks to acclaimed records such as Todbringer (2016), Lebensnehmer (2019), Ellenbogengesellschaft (2022), and Todbringerin (2024). On stage, they deliver an intense and hypnotic atmosphere, intertwining majestic melodies with relentless black metal assaults — proving that immense strength can arise even from the depths of melancholy.
The evening’s lineup also features Karg, the side project of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist J.J. (Harakiri for the Sky). Karg fuses post-black metal with a strong atmospheric and melancholic component. Originally a solo effort, the project gradually grew into a full band that consistently releases full-length albums, including Weltenasche (2016), Dornenvögel (2018), Traktat (2020), and Resignation (2022). Their recordings often feature extended instrumentation and guest musicians, pushing the sound beyond traditional black metal. Karg thus stands not just as a side experiment but as a fully realized and long-term artistic expression of J.J.
Completing the lineup are Germany’s Firtan, whose music combines pagan and atmospheric black metal with progressive elements. Their sound draws inspiration from bands such as Thyrfing, Agalloch, and Emperor, while incorporating orchestral and post-rock arrangements enriched by viola, dulcimer, and piano.
