KMFDM, LAMASHTU - Praha

German industrial rock/metal powerhouse KMFDM are returning to the Czech Republic! Get ready for their uncompromising sound, blending metal guitars, heavy beats and provocative lyrics on March 4 at Lucerna Music Bar. Joining them as special guests will be Swedish symphonic avant-garde outfit Lamashtu.

Founded in 1984 by Sascha Konietzko, KMFDM takes its name from the slogan Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid (often mistakenly translated as “No Pity for the Majority”). Emerging from Hamburg’s underground electronic scene, the band gradually established themselves as industrial pioneers, combining abrasive electronic sounds with metal guitars, heavy beats and provocative, often politically charged lyrics. In the 1990s, particularly following their move to the United States, KMFDM broke through on the American market as well. Albums such as Angst (1993), Nihil (1995) and Symbols (1997) became cult classics, thanks to their relentless energy and unmistakable fusion of electronics, metal and industrial dance elements. Their distinctive visual identity also played a major role, with iconic artwork created by artist A. Tomić, better known as Brute!. KMFDM have never shied away from controversy, whether through their music, artwork or public statements.

Still active to this day, the band have released more than twenty studio albums. Their signature sound combines catchy yet crushing riffs, rhythmic samples, alternating male and female vocals, and an uncompromising emphasis on high-energy live performances. KMFDM continue to enjoy a devoted worldwide fanbase, while their unique blend of sarcasm, political commentary and dance-driven metal energy makes them one of the most distinctive and enduring acts in industrial music history.

Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, Lamashtu have been carving out their own sonic identity since 2015, exploring the territory between avant-garde metal and symphonic doom. Their music is built around dense, theatrical atmospheres, intertwining haunting female vocals with lyrics in their native Swedish, giving their sound an unmistakably authentic and darker Nordic character. Rather than relying on straightforward aggression, the band embrace creeping melancholy, majestic arrangements and a hypnotic aura, musically embodying the essence of the ancient demoness after whom they are named.
