The American progressive/metalcore outfit Between The Buried And Me is returning to Prague! On March 18, they will present their brand-new album The Blue Nowhere, set for release on September 12. Get ready for a one-of-a-kind blend of technical death metal, progressive rock, metalcore, and countless other completely unexpected genre detours.

Formed in 2000 in Raleigh, North Carolina, Between The Buried And Me (BTBAM for short) took their name from a line in a Counting Crows song and have been pushing beyond genre boundaries since day one. Their music fuses technical death metal, progressive rock, metalcore, jazz passages, and acoustic moments, creating a rich and unpredictable sound. Their self-titled debut from 2002 delivered a fierce mix of metalcore and progressive elements, but the true breakthrough came with Alaska (2005) and Colors (2007) — both now regarded as milestones in modern progressive guitar music.

Fronted by vocalist/keyboardist Tommy Rogers and guitarist Paul Waggoner, the band is known not only for its technical precision but also for its conceptual approach to albums. For example, The Parallax II: Future Sequence (2012) presents an elaborate sci-fi narrative woven through its songs and musical themes. BTBAM often switch between aggressive growls and clean vocals, extremely intricate guitar riffs and melodic passages, and crushing rhythms and surprising stylistic shifts — making them a favorite among fans seeking originality and adventure in metal.

Over the years, BTBAM have earned a reputation for uncompromising live performances. On stage, they faithfully deliver even their most complex songs, often performing entire albums from start to finish and experimenting with lighting and visual effects. Their discography ranges from monumental, hour-plus opuses to shorter, more accessible releases. Despite their complexity and experimental spirit, they have maintained a dedicated fanbase and are widely regarded as one of the most influential progressive metal bands of their generation.
