SINISTER, PESSIMIST, GRACELESS - Praha

When you say European death metal, the name Sinister is among the very first to come up. This Dutch icon has been destroying stages since 1988 – and in December, they’re bringing their relentless assault to Prague’s Modrá Vopice! Joining them will be the American brutal death metal powerhouse Pessimist and Dutch doom/death crushers Graceless.

Their brutal, technically precise, and uncompromising style has earned Sinister a solid place among the classics of the genre – albums like Cross the Styx, Diabolical Summoning, and Hate remain essential pillars of the European death metal pantheon. After more than three decades, countless lineup changes, and sixteen studio albums, it’s clear that Sinister is an unstoppable force, guided not by trends but by their own dark vision. Live, they unleash a whirlwind of blast beats, razor-sharp riffs, and bone-crushing growls. Their show is pure old-school brutality delivered with surgical precision.

Supporting them are two heavyweights. First, the American death metal war machine Pessimist – synonymous with darkness, speed, and technical savagery. Since their mid‑90s inception, the band has carved out a cult status in the underground scene with records like Cult of the Initiated and Blood for the Gods, blending the ferocity of Florida death metal with a sinister, atmospheric edge.

Closing the lineup are Dutch doom/death metallers Graceless, who embrace an old‑school yet devastatingly effective approach to extreme metal. Their sound channels the crushing weight of Asphyx, Bolt Thrower, and Paradise Lost, focusing not on experimentation but on the sheer power of groove, mournful melodies, and war‑laden themes that echo through both their lyrics and their sound.
