ULTIMA RATIO FEST 2025: DARK TRANQUILLITY, SOEN, EQUILIBRIUM, IOTUNN - Praha

The end of 2025 will be filled with melodic metal, as part of a joint tour that will bring Swedish melodeath pioneers Dark Tranquillity, their progressive metal compatriots SOEN, the German folk metal ensemble Equilibrium, and the Denmark-Faroe Islands group Iotunn to Prague's SASAZU.

Dark Tranquillity, with their 36-year history, are considered pioneers of the so-called Gothenburg school of melodic death metal. They gained global recognition through albums like The Gallery (1995), Damage Done (2002), and Fiction (2007), and even won a Grammy for their 2020 album Moment. They will arrive in Prague with their new album Endtime Signals, which explores the despair that the current world has plunged us all into.

Provocative Swedish band SOEN has spent 15 years carving out a prominent space on the progressive metal scene, one that primarily reveres their American predecessors TOOL since the 90s. Their complex polyrhythms, captivating choruses, and creative guitar riffs have created a unique cocktail of sound that has won hearts worldwide since their formation in 2010.

German folk metal band Equilibrium has built a fascinating and spiritually uplifting sound by blending modern metal elements with traditional folk music. Their longevity (having been active since 2001) can be attributed to their constant desire for growth and their ongoing exploration of new musical territories.

Rounding out the lineup is Denmark-Faroe Islands ensemble Iotunn, whose music can be simply defined as progressive melodic death metal with an epic power metal twist. They gained prominence with their 2016 EP The Wizard Falls, followed by their debut full-length Access All Worlds in 2021, which opened doors to stages around the world.
