ATROPHY, CONFESS - Praha
11 / 11 / 2026 / PRAHA / MODRÁ VOPICE
Arizona thrash metal force Atrophy are bringing cult classics and fresh material to Modrá Vopice! On November 11, 2026, they’ll be joined by Iranian dissidents Confess, whose groove metal has been forged in the fire of real-life oppression. This one is going to hurt.
Arizona’s Atrophy belong to those underrated gems of American thrash that helped define the sound of Roadrunner Records in the late ’80s. With albums such as Socialized Hate (1988) and Violent by Nature (1990), they delivered technically refined yet relentlessly raw thrash, packed with sharp social commentary and riffs that cut like a circular saw. Their music carries echoes of the Bay Area school and bands such as Testament and Exodus, yet Atrophy have always maintained their own darker, dirtier identity. After a long period of hibernation, the band surrounding frontman Brian Zimmerman returned with Asylum (2024), proving beyond doubt that these veterans haven’t lost any of their edge. Their aggression on stage doesn’t feel like a nostalgic exercise – it feels as honest and urgent as ever.
Special guests Confess are a band for whom music has quite literally been a matter of life and death. Founders Nikan Khosravi and Arash Ilkhani were arrested in their native Iran by the country’s Revolutionary Guards and sentenced to draconian prison terms and flogging simply for playing heavy music. After a dramatic escape, they found asylum in Norway and transformed their anger, frustration and defiance into crushing groove/thrash metal. Their 2022 album Revenge at All Costs is a massive wall of sound filled with aggressive vocals, heavy guitars and uncompromising energy, naturally carrying forward the legacy of bands such as Sepultura, Pantera and Lamb of God.
