Nordic melancholy with a cinematic edge. Norwegian outfit Kalandra will bring their delicate blend of Nordic folk and post-rock to Prague’s Rock Café on March 21, 2027, led by the mesmerizing voice of singer Katrine Stenbekk. The evening will be opened by the dark and atmospheric songwriter Finnegan Tui. Explore the boundaries of the dark north with your own ears!

The core of Kalandra began to take shape during the band members’ studies in Liverpool, yet their sound remains deeply rooted in the rugged landscapes of Norway and Sweden. The band first caught the attention of heavier audiences with their unique, brooding cover of Iron Maiden’s “Brave New World” and their viral rendition of “Helvegen” by their friends Wardruna. They fully realized their own artistic vision on their debut album The Line (2020), as well as on the highly acclaimed atmospheric soundtrack for the game Kingdom Two Crowns. The quartet masterfully builds musical tension – from minimalist acoustic picking to towering post-rock walls, where fragile alt-pop naturally intertwines with the coldness of the north. Don’t expect cheerful folk dances – this is intricate sound design created for total immersion.

The support slot will be filled by Finnegan Tui, a musician with roots in New Zealand who is currently based in the UK. His music is a striking intersection of dark neo-folk and bass-driven electronic music. Raw acoustic guitar and a deep voice form an intimate foundation, gradually infiltrated by uncompromising synthesizers and heavy beats. On his album Zephyr, Finnegan proves that modern songwriting can avoid worn-out clichés while retaining a raw, unpolished sense of drive. As the opening act for Kalandra, he represents a truly precise curatorial choice that will perfectly set the mood for the Nordic mist to come.
