French trio Birds In Row blur the line between raw screamo punk and atmospheric post-hardcore. No calculations, no compromises—just pure emotional catharsis driven by abrasive guitars and a neurotic vocal delivery. Formed in the French city of Laval in 2009, the band have steadily risen to become one of the leading names in Europe’s independent guitar scene. For many years, they were part of Deathwish Inc., releasing genre-defining records such as You, Me & The Violence and We Already Lost the World. Birds In Row have built a reputation on rejecting genre conventions; while their sound is firmly rooted in the legacy of bands like Fugazi and Modern Life Is War, it also incorporates a modern post-metal edge and a heavy sense of melancholy.

Their current output, most notably the critically acclaimed Gris Klein—released through RED CRK, the label run by Johannes Persson of Cult of Luna—pushes their sound toward an even more dynamic and expansive direction. Tracks such as Noah and Cathedrals perfectly demonstrate their ability to build overwhelming tension, moving from quiet, nervous passages to total emotional devastation.
