Icons of dark wave and industrial rock The Cassandra Complex return to Prague! Rodney Orpheus and his band will bring hypnotic rhythms and post-punk intensity to Futurum. The evening will open with the Swedish project Sjöblom. Dark aesthetics, synths and guitars in perfect symbiosis.
The Cassandra Complex belong among the pioneers who, in the mid-1980s in Leeds, defined the intersection between punk-driven guitar energy and the cold machinery of early EBM. The mastermind behind the project, Rodney Orpheus, infused the music with a fascination for cyberpunk, occultism, and the political paranoia of the era. Tracks like “The Moscow Idiot” or “Nightmare” are not just nostalgic throwbacks but still function as powerful engines for dancing in the dark. Even after decades, the band maintains a cult status and sounds just as relevant in an underground club as on the main stages of genre festivals such as Wave-Gotik-Treffen.
The night will be opened by Sjöblom, the project of Johan Sjöblom, whom you may know as a prominent member of Swedish melancholic indie-goths The Exploding Boy. While his main band leans toward indie-goth rock, Sjöblom dives deeper into post-punk roots and modern dark pop. The Swedish school is unmistakable here—expect strong, instantly memorable melodies wrapped in layers of reverb and shimmering synth textures, creating the perfect contrast to the industrial pressure of the evening’s headliner.
Black outfits recommended. Dancing shoes for Futurum mandatory.
