Since their formation in Bradford in 1980, New Model Army have been through it all—from punk revolt to northern English folk influences and dark rock. Their sound is driven by a dominant, pulsing bass and the charismatic presence of frontman Justin Sullivan, whose lyrics about social injustice and personal freedom have lost none of their relevance over 45 years. Their catalogue includes timeless classics like “Vengeance” and “Thunder and Consolation,” as well as a recent high point in the critically acclaimed album Unbroken. The band are renowned for their devoted fan community, The Family, and for concerts where sweat and emotion flow without unnecessary studio polish.
