NEW MODEL ARMY, POLY NOIR & THE HOLY SPIRIT SMUGGLERS - Brno
10 / 07 / 2026 / BRNO / FLÉDA
Brno’s Fléda will be hit by a wave of raw post-punk and handcrafted folk on July 10. New Model Army, led by Justin Sullivan, will bring their relentless energy and the anthems that have defined generations of outsiders. No compromises, just pure urgency. Special guests for the evening will be Brno-based ensemble POLY NOIR & The Holy Spirit Smugglers.
Since their formation in Bradford in 1980, New Model Army have been through it all – from punk rebellion and the influence of Northern English folk to dark, powerful rock. Their sound is built around a dominant, pulsating bass guitar and the charismatic presence of frontman Justin Sullivan, whose lyrics about social injustice and personal freedom remain as relevant today as they were 45 years ago. Their catalogue includes timeless classics such as Vengeance and Thunder and Consolation, as well as the critically acclaimed recent album Unbroken. The band is renowned for its devoted fan community, “The Family,” and for live performances where sweat and emotion matter more than studio polish. New Model Army do not need pyrotechnics or confetti; guitars and hard truths are more than enough.
POLY NOIR & The Holy Spirit Smugglers is the dark country project of Petr “Poly” Pálenský, charismatic frontman of Brno crossover veterans Insania. Here, Poly steps away from heavy guitar riffs and embraces a melancholic, cinematic sound inspired by the aesthetics of American Gothic, Ennio Morricone, Johnny Cash, and the dark novels of Cormac McCarthy. On the acclaimed debut album K mýmu ohni nesedej (2024), he delivers raw stories filled with sin and timelessness, brought to life on stage by an elite backing band known as The Holy Spirit Smugglers: bassist and video game composer Tomáš Šlápota (Dark Gamballe), blues guitarist Jan Fic, and drummer David Horák.
